Bloodshot Eyes Treatment

Bloodshot Eyes Causes

BLOOD SHOT EYES are caused by any stress to the surface of your eyeball such as:

  • Allergies
  • Smoke at work or parties
  • Chlorine in pools
  • Frayed contact lenses
  • Wind
  • Lack of sleep

Bloodshot Eyes Treatment

  • Ice packs applied to the bloodshot closed eye helps shrink the prominent blood vessels.
  • For tired bloodshot eyes, try warm compresses for up to 15 minutes.
  • After petting your furry pets, wash your hands right away. Pet fur and saliva are common irritants to the eye.
  • If your eyes feel dry and stinging, try artificial tears.
  • If you're wearing contact lenses, you may need to wear your glasses for a couple to rest your eye surface. If the irritation starts again after the holiday then you may need to enzymatically clean your contacts or replace them - over time they develop protein films and micro-scratches impossible to repair and need to be replaced.
  • Avoid things you know bother your eyes like smoke, dust, etc.

If all else fails let your eye doctor take a peek at your eyes.
