Ear Infection TreatmentSignificant ear infections are most commonly the result of bacterial infection, therefore a course of antibiotics is the treatment of choice.
The first dose should ideally be by injection to saturate your body with the antibiotic. Ear drops are only of benefit if the infection is in the outer ear canal you can feel with your finger. If the infection is deeper you'll need antibiotics in tablet form. For pain, simple pain killers like paracetamol
and aspirin are usually enough. Decongestants are also of benefit as they assist the ear in drainage. Ear swabbing with cotton swabs is also of benefit in ear canal infections by helping to remove infected and dead skin and starving bacteria of stuff to eat. Next!
